PleurX™ drainage set
The PleurX™ vacuum bottle can be connected to the safety valve of a drainova® ArgentiC or PleurX™ catheter via the insertion pin on the connecting tube. The vacuum bottle is suitable for temporary, safe, quick and easy drainage of pleural effusions or ascites.
The vacuum in the plastic bottle is activated before drainage by piercing the membrane in the bottle top with an insertion pin. The dressing material set is required for sterile and clean implementation of temporary drainage and dressing changes.
Following a doctor’s prescription and instructions from ewimed Switzerland AG, the patient can also use the PleurX™ drainage set at home for temporary drainage of pleural effusions or ascites.

Functions and advantages
- The insertion pin on the connecting tube is connected to the safety valve of the PleurX™ or drainova® ArgentiC catheter.
- Misconnections, in accordance with DIN EN ISO 80369-1, are ruled out by the key-lock plug connection.
- The suction strength, the drainage quantity and the drainage interval can be adjusted using the roller clamp on the connection hose.
- Temporary drainage is safe, simple and efficient.
- Drainage takes approx. 5-15 minutes. It is performed in the hospital under the supervision of a nurse.
