Each set contains
- Puncture needle with pigtail catheter
- Safety scalpel, no. 11
- 5-in-1 adapter
- Extension hose with plastic spike for vacuum flasks
- Cannula 16 G (38 mm)
- Point-Lok® needle protection device
Functions and advantages
Veress™ technology
- The springy, blunt obturator protrudes above the sharp, distal tip of the puncture needle.
- A color change indicator from white to red shows when the sharp, distal tip is exposed.
- This protects the patient from perforations and the user from needlestick injuries.
Self-closing valve
- Ensures a closed system after the puncture needle is removed.
- Effusion cannot flow out in an uncontrolled manner or air cannot be aspirated accidentally.
- The puncture needle can be repositioned if necessary.
- A hose bypass with three-way stopcock enables connection to a Pneu-Pack II Art. No. P7899 or with an in-house suction system for drainage.
Pigtail catheter
- Self-aligning and resistant to occlusion.
- Silicone coating ensures easy percutaneous insertion, minimizes the possible "accordion effect" and reduces tissue trauma.
- Centimeter depth marking enables precise catheter placement (catheter length of 160 mm).
- the Luer-Lock connection allows easy removal of the pigtail catheter from the valve device.

Each set contains
- Puncture needle (18 G) with catheter 8 Fr or 5 Fr
- Safety scalpel, no. 11
- 5-in-1 adapter
- Extension hose with plastic spike for vacuum flasks
- Cannula 16 G (38 mm)
Functions and advantages
Self-closing safety valve
- The TPK systems have a closed system with a valve that locks automatically when the insertion cannula is removed.
Lower risk of obstruction
- The catheter with a spiral perforation reduces the risk of obstruction and supports optimal fluid return.
Many options for sprue removal
- The TPK offers the option of universal drainage via one-way valves and a secure Luer lock connection. A connection tube and a 15 G vacuum needle are included for use with glass vacuum flasks.
